Urban Break is for finding good people to ride, trek and explore with. These rules keep it safe and friendly. They're part of our Terms of Use.
1. Be a good travel buddy
- Be honest about who you are, your trip plans and your experience.
- Respect people's no: to a buddy request, a join request, a chat or a photo.
- Show up, or say early that you can't. No-shows hurt everyone's trust score.
- Leave places as you found them: no littering, no damage, follow forest, wildlife and heritage rules.
2. Never allowed
These are removed, and can lead to strikes or an immediate ban (IT Rules 2021, rule 3(1)(b)):
- Sexual content, nudity, or sexual messages to people who didn't ask for them.
- Anyone's intimate images shared without their consent, or content that invades someone's bodily privacy.
- Anything that sexualises or endangers children. We ban the account and report it to the police.
- Threats, violence, stalking, or encouraging anyone to hurt themselves or others.
- Harassment, bullying, or insults based on gender, caste, religion, ethnicity, region, disability or sexual orientation.
- Scams and fraud: advance-payment asks, fake trips, "investment" offers, phishing links, money laundering or gambling.
- Impersonating someone, fake accounts, or lying about who you are to gain trust.
- Sharing someone's phone number, address or location without their permission.
- Content you don't have the rights to (others' photos), malware, or false information meant to mislead.
- Anything that threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, public order, or relations with other countries.
- Spam: repeated messages, mass links, or selling things to people you haven't met.
3. How we keep it safe
- Text is checked automatically. Clear violations are held: only you see them until a moderator looks. New accounts (first 7 days) can't share links (map links are fine) and have lower daily limits.
- Report anything from its ⋯ menu; you can block at the same time. The person isn't told who reported them.
- A post, photo or message reported by three different established members, or reported once as an intimate image or a danger to a child, is hidden at once until a moderator decides (within 24 to 72 hours).
4. What happens when rules are broken
- Warning: the content is removed and we tell you why.
- Strike 1: posting and new chats paused for 24 hours. Strike 2: 7 days. Strike 3 within 90 days: the account is suspended.
- Strikes stop counting after 90 days. See them, and appeal once, in Profile → Account status.
- Immediate ban: child sexual abuse material, credible threats, sharing someone's intimate images, organised scams. Banned people can't sign up again.
- Trip chats stay open during a restriction, so you can still coordinate with people you're travelling with.
5. If you need help now
- Emergency: call 112.
- Women's helpline: 181.
- Cyber crime (fraud, harassment online): 1930 / cybercrime.gov.in.
- Feeling low or thinking of harming yourself: Tele-MANAS 14416 (free, 24×7).
